Converting ritual scrolls to books?

If you want, you could re-skin scrolls into glowing gems of crystallized magic. This I feel makes for a less strong connection than between book and scroll: it becomes much less "reasonable" that you could convert one into the other.

In The Lunar Scrolls there are lunar rituals that, instead of scrolls, use 'lunar artifacts'. These are like the gems you suggested, but instead of gems they're just whatever kind of object fits the ritual. For example, the Conjure Moonwater ritual (I think that's what it was called) may have a lunar artifact in the shape of a jug. You can perform the ritual from the jug, after which its magic is expended, but the jug doubles as a container for the moonwater you just conjured.
