We're gonna need to boost those HD. Per the 3.5 Monster Manual, 24 HD is the minimum for a Colossal creature.

I suggest we boost it to at least 30 HD. The 40-foot fiendwurm has 24 HD, and the Gargantuan century worm has 40 HD, while this thing is 200 feet long!

For ability scores, we could probably upsize the Fiendwurm and Century Worm:

Fiendwurm: Str 36, Dex 13, Con 29, Int 7, Wis 14, Cha 8
Century Worm: Str 35, Dex 7, Con 22, Int -, Wis 11, Cha 2

I suggest: Str 44, Dex 7, Con 33, Int -, Wis 11, Cha 2

Nay-Churrs aren't fighters, so I'm reluctant to raise the stats that high. I was thinking their stats would be more on par with a Colossal Ooze, since they seem to be very simple lifeforms.

Colossal Black Pudding: 32 HD, Str 34, Dex 1, Con 32
Colossal Gelatinous Cube: 32 HD, Str 34, Dex 1, Con 38
Colossal Ochre Jelly: 48 HD, Str 39, Dex 1, Con 34

So, something like:

Nay-Churr: 30 HD, Str 36, Dex ??, Con 35

If it's a magical beast, it shouldn't be mindless, and it had animal intelligence originally.

Good point!

Should have mentioned this with draedens, but why not consider Colossal+? That's in the SRD (under epic dragons anyway).

And the homebrews has them as Huge. ;)

I think the death throes Shade means is the explosion when it dies. But there is the additional thrashing when injured. Might need two SQs for this.

The original creature's bite didn't do any damage, it just swallowed the target(s).

While that's true, it doesn't make much sense. Something of that size and Str should hurt when its mouth closes on you. Sure, little things (like PCs) might float in, but it doesn't make much sense when another Colossal critter approaches its maw.

It doesn't just have "throes" when dying, but whenever it takes damage.

True. It probably needs a different name for that ability.

I rarely consider it because a) it's in a rather obscure location and b) it makes little mechanical difference for non-dragons (you can select any Space/Reach and weapon damage you'd like for Colossal critters). I really wish they'd done more with that. :erm:

Oops!

Yeah, or just blend the two with a more appropriate name.

Well I'm thinking it might be more like an Engulf attack - the Nay-Churr doesn't bite things, its "mouth" expands to a vast size and simply envelops objects as it moves over them.

We can call it something like "Thrashing Reflex" I suppose.

Colossal+ suits me.

I'd prefer the Explosive Death Throes and the Thrashing Reflex be separate abilities.

I can live with this.

Until we come up with something better? ;)

Colossal+ suits me.

Ugh. To what gain? It serves NO purpose outside of epic dragon (where it serves next to no purpose). :.-(

I'd prefer the Explosive Death Throes and the Thrashing Reflex be separate abilities.

We can work 'em up that way, and if they seem to redundant, roll 'em together later.
