Hmm, probably +48, but I'm not bothered much either way.
Fine, I'll plug that into the
Gammaroid Working Draft.
We also wondered about increasing the 1d6 points of damage "from being thrown about by the impact". Maybe 1d12 or 2d12? I don't want it to be
that much, but I'd like it to be bad enough a 1st or 2nd level crewhand is seriously threatened by it.
I like the first version of Ability Armor also, but I wonder if we can come up with a name that evokes the idea of Hardness (the SQ).
Well "Ability Hardness", "Ability Hardening" or "Hardened Abilities" would be an obvious name.
Alternatively, we could riff of the various Resistances 3E creatures have, but I think "Hardened Abilities" has a much better ring to it than "Ability Damage Resistance".
How much should the "hardness" be, do you think?
I'm thinking somewhere around 8 points, so it'll likely suffer some damage from a powerful poison like a wyvern's 2d6 Con or a Colossal Monstrous Spider's 2d8 Str, but it won't even notice a weaker dose like a black adder's 1d6 Con or a Large Centipede's 1d4 Dex.
Although it's not really poison damage we're concerned about - since it has a great Fort save to protect against those - it's more things like a Lamia's 1d4 Wis drain touch or a Phthisic's 1d4 Int damage bite.
Don't forget ability damage/drain is doubled on a critical hit, so 8 points is the minimum we'd need to prevent it taking any damage from a 1d4 attack.
Hmmm... maybe we should make it 10 points of "hardness", so it needs something highly potent to affect it (e.g. a 2d6+ poison or a 1d6+ drain that's critically hits).
