Converting Star Wars d20 to D&D?

I'm thinking of adding the races, classes, skills & some of the equipment from Star Wars d20 (original or revised) to a regular D&D campaign. Has anyone else done this already? Would the conversion be that difficult? I did google up this page:

Star_Wars_Conversion_Rules

Any critique of this guy's work?

Before you suggest it, I already have Dragonstar. I really want to find a simple way to convert the d20 stats in Star Wars to a 3E D&D campaign.

Thanks in advance for any advice or links :D

Actually, I'm thinking of making a campaign world, (Just a standard generic campaign/Greyhawk ripoff) and had this bizarre, but some-what interesting idea of incorporating Wookies into it. Although I'm not totally interested in the Star Wars mythos, I think Wookies are very imaginative, interesting, and, well, cool creatures. My idea was to have Kashyyyk be an isolated island in the middle of the ocean. Wookies are peaceful but xenophobic creatures often exploited by Orcs for their above-average capabilities as slaves. The real problem is I don't own any of the Star Wars RPG rulebooks and I'm not sure of the statistics for a Wookie, and I don't particularly want to buy a book just for one race, so for now, the idea's kind of grounded.

(Singing {badly})
I wanna be a Wookie ranger,
I wanna live a life of danger...

Um, sorry, just had to do that.

I've been thinking on similar lines, haven't done any thing with it yet.

Am I correct in that this conversion is mixing DnD magic and Force skills? I would choose one or another. But I think its a cool idea, there are a lot of cool races in the Ultimate Alien Anthology.

I think it would be cool to do a low tech version of Star Wars set on a single world, sort of a medieval version, using the Force instead of Magic. Some classes would have to altered, especially the tech specialist. Some like the scoundrel might have to have the unrevised class abilities put back like baskstab. And the weapon profeciencies would have to be adjusted accordingly.

Why not? In the standard D&D campaign, there are already three types of magical power. (Arcane, Divine, and Psionic) I don't see why it'd hurt to have a fourth.

Nothing wrong with it. I tend to like low level magic. The Force to me is alot like the concept of chi, but it isnt mutually exclusive from magic, especially since use of the Force is skill and feat based.

my only worry is that a D&D spellcaster is most likely going to be much, much more powerful than a like-leveled Force using character. most of the Force powers are fairly low-powered, not to mention being extremely skill point- and feat-intensive.

now if the Force user also has access to blaster pistols, lightsabers, powered armor, etc. -- and the spellcaster doesn't -- then it gets a little more balanced.

Actually it can be easliy balanced, you would just need to convert the force which is basically psionics. And the best way i found was using Ken Hoods, Skills and feats psionics system.

With a little converting you could power up the force the fit well with magic.

Besides who in there right mind woulnt want a +1 Lightsaber of wounding.

Mirth, I think we need to understand your campaign goals first to be able to make sense of whether or not this works for you.

I've given some thought to converting the Force Adept into a D&D-like class and replacing spellcasters with that. Jedi are a little trickier, as you need to come up with something that works as well as the lightsaber but is more genre appropriate.

Actually, I posted this thread back in April and got no responses here. Then I reposted in General and got some good advice. Apparently DonaldRumsfeldsTofu found this thread some 5 months after I posted it and bumped it up. As they say, old threads never die :D
