Cool ideas for living spells

I love the living spell "template" from the Eberron Campaign Setting, and I'm going through spell lists trying to find a fun spell to use as a basis for one of these creatures. I was just wondering if anyone has found a spell that makes for an interesting creature using this template.

I'm personally looking at spell levels 1-3, but I'm still anxious to hear what people have done with the template regardless of whether or not I can use it, including wacky stuff like metamagiced living spells, etc.

We ran in to a living colorspray in our last Eberron adventure. It freaked everyone out (because we had no idea what it was) and we almost ran away... and then ended up defeating it easily. I recommend using `em!

How about a living Fly spell? It grabs PCs, lifts them into the air, then drops them :)

Obscuring Mist
Color Spray
Fog Cloud
Glitterdust
Hideous Laughter
Darkness
Hypnotic Pattern
Spectral Hand
Phantom Steed

All the above, darkness can freak players. :) I also think some of the living spells can be interesting Familiars. :p

I slightly modified the Cone of Cold one in the book, and added the Slow spell to it. At higher levels of play, slow really wipes out characters offensive capability. Of course the 9d6 cold from the cone of cold isn't anything to sneeze at either. I thought combining these two made sense - you get extremely chilled and feel yourself slowing down.

When the party faced it, they had no clue what it was, and they spent the first 3 rounds just falling back from it trying to avoid it. Unfortunately, my rolls were poor that night, but it did manage to grab the rogue and give him a nasty chill.

I used a living incendiary cloud- that one was fun! :)

I really the idea of a living reverse gravity.

For low-level stuff, how about a living entangle crossed with fireball?

[SPOILSPORT]A number of the spells people have mentioned above (e.g. fly, hideous laughter, slow) can't be living spells. Only area or effect spells can become living spells.[/SPOILSPORT] Of course, this is what Rule 0 is for.

Any of the cloud chain of spells, from the humble Obscuring Mist, through to the frustrating Mind Fog, Stinking Cloud and Freezing Fog, to the horrific Cloudkill, are great living spells. Mind Fog in particular is a good one to combine with another spell.

Although I hate them on principle, the Orbs make good living spells too. Cool visual too, I can picture them hurtling through the air similar to the Eternity Eight from the anime series S-Cry-Ed.

Under no circumstances should a party have to face a living Phantasmal Killer.
