In my campaign last week (4e), the party was in a large room (final battle) against a bunch of skeletons, a headless regenerating zombie, a deathlock wight, an monk acolyte...all the while, another monk (the master) was inside a rune circle protected by a force wall performing a ritual to call forth "The Harbinger of Orcus" (sounds like trouble). The party realized that a gem on a pedestal in the middle of a lava pool was corrupting the monks and projecting the force shield.
The Dragonborn Battle Cleric used his turn to run past a number of foes (avoiding AoO from no less than 3 foes), jump over the lava and land on the pedestal. The monk acolyte tried to do the same to bull rush the cleric and push him into the lava, but the acolyte failed his rolls and bounced off the cleric, into the lava himself. A skeleton warrior tried the same maneuver, also failing. As the two foes burned in the lava, the Battle Cleric raised his long sword, "Split the Sky" and shattered the gem. A truly heroic moment that turned the battle in the party's favor.
