Can someone tell me what is up with Rao? Did Gary actually create him as a deity or did Gary make mention of the Crook of Rao and someone else made Rao a deity? If the source of Rao as a deity was Gary, what was the product or article in which it is first mentioned?

Thanks! I'd like a bigger list some time too. Cause there's no Kyuss on there... Unless you're counting him as a "hero deity".

Nightfall, Your welcome. As for deities, I currently only have a list of those from Dragon Magazine. I know that Gary mentioned other deities- Loth, Yeenoghu, and the Kuo-Toa deity (whose name I can never spell of the top of my head) come readily to mind.
Unfortunately, I no longer have my 1e stuff and unable to look up the artifacts to see in which writeups, if any, Gary named other deities. Perhaps, someone else can be kind enough to look up that information..

Well it won't be me. I only have in the late 270s/280s, which is as far as my Catalog (until recent issues, which I do have) extends.

That said, I say keep Rao.

He wasn't originally a deity IIRC, just a name-dropped Priest.
