Er... didn't we get an official responce that both the cow and crow pronunciations were acceptable for Drow? (I know we had a how to pronounce thread a while back, on an older version of the board).

Hrmm, I was looking at the MMII, and I want someone to give a ANY clue as to pronounce: ICITXACHITI?????`

That's another one of those that falls into that odd category with "Yrthak"... those made-up names that we could use an official pronunciation for.

I totally agree with you... and the Monsters that they came out with are totally un-original 'Leechwalker'????

As for the last one i posted I think one of the authors sneezed and hit their head on the keyboard, and kept it.

**high-fives Hellhound for being a drow as crow fan**

I mean, how can you conjure fear with something that rhymes with cow and sow? Although I suppose all the teasing drow must have gotten in junior high could explain their vindictive demeanor...

If you pronounce it drow
It proves that you really blow
Now calling them drow
It's hip and I vow
Never to run Night Below

One of the old Dragon Mags had a several page pronunciation guide..wish I could remember the issue...Anyone else 'member

Most of the time growing up I somehow managed to pronounce everything "correctly" (as per that article)..however there were a couple of things...

In Greyhawk, The Grand Duchy of Geoff: We always said "gee(soft g) off"...when I found out it was pronounced like my name several years ago It was quite dissapointing..I still say Gee-off or (soft g) Goff

Also my first DM used to say Mor-denk-ian instead of Mor-den-kainen..

and of course most folks say "Jew-buh-lex" instead of "jew-bleks"

:)
