Core Rulebook Gift Set Discounted on Amazon!

Not a bad deal, with the extra preorder discount, it works out to about $21 a book. Much more reasonable than $35. Plus tax and gas.

Ah. Preordering myself. Imagine if due to a certain error with regards to my order they end up sending me the core gift set around a month or so before the street date (so say may 06).

Ah.

That would be good. :)

First post here on these forums. Hey everyone!

JohnSnow, congrats on getting married before 4th Edition comes out. And good luck getting her to game with you. My wife games with me and I love it! She's VERY gung-ho about combat and just loves to jump into it. However, her ninja and a Reaping Mauler didn't mix well. I really didn't like killing my wife's character and I paid for it later that night. ;)

Thanks for the tip on the Gift Set discount. Just ordered it from Amazon, yet I feel a little guilty not buying it at my LGS called "The Source Comics and Games" here in the Twin Cities, Minnesota. I'll be getting the modules (H1-H3, etc) and DDMs from there though ... along with a new set of dice. Ya just have to do it with a new edition, right? Am I wrong there? Hehehe

Anyways, a general kudos on these forums for all my 4th Edition news, banter, speculation, facts, theories, and everything else!

Thanks all!

I placed my preorders at the Source... but man, I'll tell you, Amazon is tempting, that's $40 plus about three bucks worth of gas for the there-and-back trip saved... slightly less, granted, when you factor shipping and handling, but still, a $30 final savings is something to think about, that's basically a whole sourcebook.

Yeah, the gas from Elk River to the Source is about a sourcebook price for me. =)

I know the Source gets their stuff in on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but will they have 4th Edition on the shelves on Friday, June 6th? Very hard to say because in my experience it's always been the Tuesday after the release date. We'll see though. :D

Well, you don't have to worry about something being left on the doorstep and stolen or soaked in the rain. (I've never had either happen. Just sayin.) Or have to make time in your schedule to go stand in line and sign for a package. (I've had this happen a number of times.)
Huh... I have never had to sign for anything sent from Amazon. And if UPS delivers it to me, they put it on my (covered) porch. Another joy of home-ownership!

Oh, neither have I, but Amazon isn't the only place to order online. You can get great deals on new releases from ebay. Depending on the seller, you may have to sign for those.

And, I also own a home with a covered (not enclosed) porch. But in Houston, that's no kind of guarentee of dryness. (Horizontal rain is FUN!)

I live out in the boonies. The nearest FLGS I would consider shopping at is 25 miles away.

Let's see. I could use 50 miles' worth of gas and wear-and-tear on my car, an hour or more of my time, and pay full price. Oh, and there's no guarantee that they'll have the products in stock.

Or, I could have the books delivered to my door, at a deep discount, without having to even think about it.

Tough choice. :p

That's true about buying from ebay sellers (I like Arts Bargains for books), and as for horizontal rain, well we just moved to NC this past summer and it has basically been in drought for some time so we haven't had the pleasure of experiencing a bad storm yet.

Anybody remember, when 3.0/3.5 came out, did the FLGS's get the books before Amazon? I'm going to order it anyway, but was curious about the chances of having a significant delay.
