corrupt magic succesful save - but still fatal?

a witch lvl 16 or something did cast a spell with dc 20, I succes with 26, and he said "ok, 1d6 str temp. and 1d6 con temp." wtf is that a kind of spell? he said it was a corrupt. so my Paladin was :):):):)ed :S

I think you're asking "why should I take any damage if I made my save?"

If so, the answer is that the spell likely had a save for half damage. Ya know, like a fireball.

If you're asking what specific spell it is, I don't have a clue. "Witch" isn't even a standard class.

Yeah.

Point out to your DM that a Corrupt component deals ability damage to the caster, not the target.

If you made your save, you don't take the Con damage (Fort negates), and for casting the spell (whether you save or not), she takes the Str damage.

I remember one of the Relics & Rituals spells being something along the lines of 3d6 Con damage, save for 1/2. I think it was only 7th level, too.

And yeah, your DM hopefully screwed up.
