Cosmere picked up by Apple TV

I think Apple has the most consistently great shows, so that's good. And I really loved those three books. But I admit, I kind of would prefer an original story. Or something like foundation where they basically rewrite it.

I acknowledge I'm in the minority on this.

My friend who is not an Apple watcher but who does like Sanderson asked about SFX quality on Apple and I decided this scene from Foundation was the best for demonstrating (best of what I could find on yt anyway):

As I told him, Foundation has many beautiful scenes of spaceships/planets getting blown up, but for replicating something like Stormlight Archives, scenes with lots of people in costumes are probably more relevant. A few different sets used here too, and there is a big monster towards the end.

I'm trying to figure out how I don't remember that scene!

That's a lot of control. When would he find time to do this, and write novels?
It's Brandon Sanderson. He's written a novel in the time it's taken me to write this post.

Also, this is a thing that really happened (paraphrased):
Brandon: So you know that really awful time where we we were all stuck in our homes worried when or even if society would ever return to normal?
Us: ...yeah, it was (and for some of us, continues to be) horrific
Brandon: Well, I wrote a secret novel during it.
Us: Yeah that tracks
Brandon: Wait, did I say I wrote two secret novels during COVID?
Us: ...you only mentioned the one actually...
Brandon: I meant five

I'm actually more excited for a Mistborn movie than for the Stormlight TV show. Even while reading Mistborn Book 1, I kept thinking about how intensely cinematics the action scenes were. Everything Allomancy does, with increased strength, senses, emotion-affecting, and metal telekinesis, is easy to film with relatively little VFX needed.
Same. I enjoyed the Mistborn series, but have bounced off of the Way of Kings every single time I've tried to read it. Maybe I'll find it more palatable in television format.
