Costing Out: Items that Boost One Save

Ok, I believe the forumula for magic items that give bonuses to saves is something like bonus squared x 1000 gp (correct me if I'm wrong).

But that forumula assumes you boost ALL saves. What if you just want to boost one save, say fort saves for a wizard? Divide by three? How would you all cost out that item (Vest of Fort Save + 4, for example).

I'd say the normal cost, then divide by three. But I don't know if there's an official rule. So by me, that cost would be 5,333 gp, 33 sp, 33 cp.

Oddly enough it isn't covered in the rules and I don't think there has been a magical item that just gives bonuses to one of three saves.

I'd probably make it cost 400 x bonus squared. Or it just might be a bad idea to do it. There must be some reason in 5 years it hasn't happened.

On the one hand, you'ld think that it should cost about a third, since you're providing a third of the benefit.

But on the other hand, most characters really only have one bad save - letting someone get a significant cost discount to just boost their bad save might not have great effects. So I'd be tempted to go with 500 x bonus^2, or even 600 x bonus ^2.

I think that half the normal price is pretty fair.

That being said, Neverwinter Nights has items like this.
Items that grant +1 to one save are around 500 gold.

There are standard feats that give +2 to a single save, and a non-core feat that gives +1 to all saves. (Luck of Heroes?) Continuing this pattern would make a +2 bonus to a single save should cost as much as a +1 bonus to all saves, i.e., half-cost.
