D&D 5E Could I have some advice on my Character please? :) Thank You :)

So, I've been trying to create a bunch of characters to avoid being a "1 trick pony" :)

I've got Mariana, Mariana, Penelope, Muffin and the one I'm now working on now is called "Maryn" and she is a Triton :)

Maryn is a Palladin, a class I once thought I would never realistically be able to have "fun" with or touch with a rather long barge pole just because of how . . . Justice oriantated Paladins tend to be :) But then I found out Paladins can believe in more than one god/other gods, just be divine as a result of their drive to do something positive and that people do play around with the various Alignments :)

What I've got is an angry fish women who existed in travelling tribe who wanted to find an area to build upon to begin the foundations of a fishy nation :)

A Black Dragon does a drive by and Maryn is the only survivor and gets recovered by a party of heroes and taken to a church :)

Maryn gets healed up except for her fins and one eye which are beyond hope and then decides she wants to become a Paladin to exterminate the Dragon Population :)

The church peeps humour her and send her around to do good deeds whilst they were training her in hopes that she might calm down a bit and settle into a normal life because that's what they thought Perlor would want for someone who has especially suffered physically and mentally :)

And then Maryn eventually gets her Paladin powers because Gruumsh likes that she has an eye missing, uses a Spear and likes Maryn because as well as killing dragons, she'll most likely end up kill all sorts of life as she goes about her buisness (as a Chaotic Good character) :)

If I were to describe her as a person :) She's the kind of person who would hit someone during an interigation :) Let people steal from places so long as they don't do it too much and would set others about killing animals for her because "killing gods creatures is evil but if someone else does it, It's becomes ok for me to skin the animal and cook it because it's already dead" :)

Is any of this Pheasabily possible? and what sort of fighting style do you think I should adopt with her? :)

All of it is possible, as long as your DM is cool with monstrous PCs. If Grumsh likes her, I imagine her fighting style would be pretty violent/no survivors type

That would be the correct thing to assume :) I don't think she would exactly be the kind of person to murder random people though, I think she would just get into a lot of pub brawls and I want to make her kind of Charismatic in that "face palm" sense :) Got any suggestions for to improve her? :)

Agreed, there is no reason why this character won't work, unless the GM says no. If she uses a trident I'd go with Great Weapon Fighting. But she'll most likely have to have some way of getting around on land, unless everyone in the party is sea based.

I have some thoughts on little inconsistencies.

If she feels killing the gods' creatures is a bad thing, why is it ok to pay someone else to do it? Maybe just say that she doesn't hunt, but is willing to buy food from a butcher. If she is ever traveling alone, she has to eat nuts and stuff, or find carcasses to eat.

If she knows Grumsh is the god giving her powers, she might have issues among polite society, if they know. If she is the type to lie, that might be best. If not, look forward to a lot of nights where she is not allowed into towns until she has proven she is good, or at least not bad enough to slaughter the village.

If she doesn't know Grumsh is her god, look forward to some serious confusion if anyone checks her for ties to evil. A cleric using Detect Good and Evil might see you connection to Grumsh and, depending on what kind of personality he has, either threaten you out of town, or attempt to cleanse your soul.

Lastly, maybe decide on some odd quirks that come from bathing in Dragon Acid. A lisp from a slightly melted lip, complaints about not being able to see well on her left side, and maybe a terror of Acid that either makes her Violent or scared.

Keep in mind, this is all IMO. If you don't like somethimg, no reason to use it.

Is there are a reason Triton cannot be on land? :) I haven't read anywhere that they can't breath or require extra effort to keep moist whilst on the land :)

The answer to why it's ok for her to ask someone else whether they're in her party or not to kill something for her to cook is because it's not Maryn killing them. Despite being taught not to harm animals, she does see consuming them for suviaval as a very good and viable option, it would be kind of up to the other players and the DM to uphold as to whether they should act offended or not as many players whether good or bad just hunt things, even so, I would still ask players to hunt for me because that's what Maryn believes should happen to avoid direct blame (even though she may get blame pinned on her anyways). I do like that idea of having to go shopping though, I'll use that when she's in towns and whatnot because it's ironic.

As for Gruumsh being her deity. She doesn't know and claims to believe in Perlor who sort of helps her, cause you know, Maryn is technically a Paladin. Think of it this way, a deity can't always keep track of who they are empowering so they just help the person if the check out, maryn is "good" so she gets the empowerment from her but it's only because Gruumsh supports her and even empowers her in combat :) Gruumsh = Offensive and utility Magic Perlor = Heals and Defensive stuff

I think she should be insane . . . She would grin a lot, swear a lot, call people names, stare at people to make them uncomfortable if she feels someone is looking at her in an odd way, push people around in a friendly way but accidently gives people "funny bones" from time to time because she's strong and a bit rough, and she would be 100% commited to fight any dragon who is "not good or has done something to upset her such as being a dragon".

I was going off of vague memories of them not having legs, as they aren't in the MM. But if they're somewhere else (Volo's, perhaps), and they do have legs, you're good to go AFAIC.
