D&D 5E Counter-Attack Monk Build Ideas?

I’d say instead that magic initiate and other older magic feats are weaker than average, and needed a boost or replacement.

Their stated logic is that you can go for a bigger punch the more specific a feat is, which is why, say, Drow High Magic can be so much more powerful in terms of spell levels.

All that said, I think the feat is cool as hell without a big AC boost, so I’ll review it again later.
Really? The cantrips alone are worth a feat, especially for melee attackers. Shield + Booming Blade + any other cantrip from the wizard list is a great set for any flavor of melee rogue and most other martials, too (not barbarians, obviously).

Bless + Guidance + any other cantrip from the cleric list is also great for pretty much anybody.

There are a couple “good for anyone” options, sure, but overall yeah I find them pretty weak. Bless once per day is not especially exciting, and cantrips are very rarely a power boost, and are instead generally a versatility increase.
