Counterspelling...

Are there any feats out there that, aside from Improved Counterspell and Reactive Counterspell, that aid in counterspells? I'm lookin' to build a sort of anti-mage NPC.

There are a few in Quintessential Wizard. Since they are there, they probably are in Ultimate Feats...

The really cool one allows you to choose the target of an enemy's spell, but it's a long feat chain.

Well there is specialist dispelling from R&R2. You can only take it if your a specialist, but it allows you to sacrifice a spell of equal or greater level from you speciality school to counter a spell from your opposition school(s), and sacrfice a spell from you school of a level greater than the spell you are countering to counter a spell outside of you speciality, but not in your opposition school(s). You have to counter inside your speciality as per the normal rules. So uh, make an abjurer and go to town

I haven't actually tried this out yet but I believe this should work.

Start with a sorceror. In addition to having Improved Counterspelling and Reactive Counterspelling, make sure to get Heighten Spell. Since Reactive Counterspelling allows the use any spell of a higher level of the same school to counterspell, Heighten Spell is invaluable. Make sure to have a variety as far as schools (especially 0 level ones) so that you have a spell from each school and thus take advantage of Heighten Spell.

Hope this makes some sense.

Isn't there a PrC in Magic of Faerûn whose purpose is to eliminate other mages? Magekiller maybe? I think that's what you could be looking for...

I'm not sure, but I don't think that would work. Metamagic is generally not taken into account in regards to countering. Also for it to be heightened to that level would the sorcerer have to have cast it, and not a full round action do so?

It isn't so much a prestige class as merely a couple of repeating feats slapped together with BAB, HD, skills, and saves. Kinda unimpressive.

What I'm really looking for isn't a mage-assassin, but more a mage that is adept at counterspelling others spells. The feats from Quint. Wizard are definately interesting, but its not quite what I'm going for.
