Craft- (Poison) – How should I Handle it?

<Shameless Plug>

I would be remiss if I didn't plug my own work, Prestige Secrets: Assassins, which has some OGC poison crafting rules as well. Probably not as indepth as those found in Poisoncraft, but worth mentioning.

That's in Poisoncraft?

Yep, the Codex Venororum in back has tons of great stuff. Plus the book has some nasty poisonous monsters and templates. I stuck one of the Con-damaging poisons into a darkblooded hydra (essentially an undead hydra that sprayed Con poison when damaged and bit for poison and had poison instead of fire breath). I love the poisons in this book. Destroy an opponents spell capacity, or Will save or even do three saves instead of two.

Agreed. Poisoncraft by Blue Devil games absolutely buries the information in Arms and Equipment guide.

Poisoncraft was the "pleasant surprise" of that year's ENnies in my opinion
Does Poisoncraft have useful information for a poison-using character in a d20 Modern game set in the 1800's? Or is it mostly aimed at standard fantasy/all magical poisons?

I think the poison creation rules would still work fine for a d20 Modern game, but the book as a whole is certainly focused on classic sword & sorcery.

Thanks for the compliments in the thread. I'm happy to report that Poisoncraft just hit 200 sold at RPG Now. FYI, I've been toying with releasing an "unexpurgated" version of the Codex Venenorum with about 20 new poisons and a couple of new modifiers for the creation system. One of these days ....

Any chance somebody just has a nice, expanded list of poisons with different effects? I'm not really all that interested in the mechanical breakdown of poisons, but I like the idea of expanding my options in a simple manner.
Take a good look at Bastion's Pale Designs: A Poisoner's Handbook. It has the most comprehensive collection of poisons in the d20 market and actually works well in conjunction with BDV's Poisoncraft. :)
