Craft Q: How many Derro moustaches to make a pair of Mittens?

We are fighting the evil Derro, and I am interested in finding if anyone has made any sureal questions to the DM regarding craft skills with enemies (necklace of teeth etc)

And so mine is as the title. How many would you say, and whats the DC?

Why restrict yourself to the moustache? They have full beards that you can also use (unless you're saving those for a sweater or something). I would say 8^(1 +1/size category > medium), 4 for small, and 2 for anything smaller. I wouldn't make it more than DC 10 or 15 at most. It just takes time to spin them into wool. I really think you should use the whole beard, though.

No, No, No. The Derro, are the evil dwarven shaped (they are NOT Dwarves) freaks of nature with only Moustaches. Us Dwarves have full luxirant Beards, and I intend to kit myself out in a full winter suit of clothing by the end of it all

Actually, I guess I never read the 3e MM entry for Derro too thouroughly. I always think of the picture from S4 where they're pulling the PCs down with their thingamabobs (aklys?). It bugged me that the savants pictured their had no beards. I guess I've been houseruling their beards back on.

I'm with ya spunky, I'm partial to Gygax's original 1e derro concept too: Untrimmed scraggy yellow beards and badly unwashed wiry hairdos, and they use hook fauchards (polearms with hooks) and aklys (throwing club with hook and tug-rope) to pull humans to their knees. Though it appears the savant sages trim their beards short.

Seems like their hair would make a disgusting pair of mittens, but if normal sheep wool mittens are DC5 then I wouldn't say there's much reason for derro hair mittens to be more than DC10.

From MM: ....their staring eyes white with no irises or pupils. They have humanlike bodyhair, and males have mustaches but no beards.

Dont have the earlier books to check if thats changed or not.

20 Derro? at a guess? Depends on whether they have huge flowing handle bar type mustaches or hitleresque minimoustaches. I guess you'd wnat the long flowing type, as the threads will be so short otherwise.

Don't think it would be very comfortable. Perhaps you need to treat the hair to make it softer.
