Building to Ignition
In 2001, the world witnessed an unprecedented act of information terrorism. The Mouthwash Confession, a classified “dirty secrets” archive collected by one of America’s most highly guarded think tanks, was leaked in its entirety. Almost overnight, the world changed. Heads of state resigned or ate their gun barrels, CEOs and their empires were scandalized and uprooted from the corporate landscape, and old spies were forced out of the cold to answer for their sanctioned crimes.
The survivors of this “datacaust” inherited a world without pity or compassion, where everyone is a suspect and civil rights are a fading memory. Nations around the world, reeling from the attack, finally endorsed the nightmare scenario in Project: Pitfall, an ultra-violent, international anti-terrorism initiative with near-unilateral, self-governing authority.
Unfettered by trivial concerns like jurisdiction or global red tape, Pitfall descended on the world’s nervous, shell-shocked populace like an atomic carpet bomb. Enemies of the state, so-called “Strangers” flagged at the slightest provocation, now disappear into black helicopters with alarming regularity – sometimes in broad daylight. Innocent bystanders suffer in the wake of explosive assaults on presumed terrorist cells while their appointed guardians, the last vestiges of the old guard, shiver in remote offices and allow their decisions to be guided by two fatal instincts: greed and fear.
As droning, talking heads espouse justice across increasingly restricted airwaves, thieving sound bytes out of context to applaud the draconian oppression, one force stands against the swelling bloodlust. Too bad its soldiers were among the first to be branded villains in the new regime…
Come enjoy a sneak peak into this daring web of honor and deceit as we reveal a series of advance previews from World on Fire, building up to the May release of the first of Crafty Games’ setting books for Spycraft 2.0!
World on Fire kicks off a unique new line of electronic releases detailing the heroes struggling to steer the world away from a dark future fueled by its own rage. Each of these stand-alone dossiers is both a Player and a Game Control resource, providing you with a full insider’s look at a single Faction at work in the setting. No need to skip over sections or avert your eyes from information that might spoil the secrets of your allies, rivals, and enemies! Now you can choose the history, operational procedures, contacts, tools, and new character options you want to know, and which you don’t!
