That's because everybody is long since tired of whole thing.

Anyway, it's not like noone saw this coming.

I agree with you on the first bit, but how can you say that second part? There were rumours for almost any near-UK actor who fit the description. There were even rumours that Pierce Brosnan would come back, despite him saying that he wouldn't.

How's this?

I think he could work. I do like the idea of a darker, more serious and character (as opposed to gadget) driven Bond. Probably why I always liked the Timothy Dalton Bond movies.

However, since they're generally the least popular, I'm also concerned for the franchise, a bit.

Licence to Kill, right? He was all business, if a bit too thuggish for my taste.

But Living Daylights' Bond was a wimp.

I actually always liked Dalton best as Bond... The Connery movies were - for the most part - too dated and corny for my taste, so Connery suffered by association, and after I hit adulthood, Roger Moore started to look to me less like a suave superspy and more like a skinny, prissy old man.

Brosnan looked right for the part, but didn't quite have the charisma or the attitude - and the fact the newest movies were generic crap didn't help things at all... Especially after movies like the Bourne Identity, which showed how good a modern spy thriller could be.

As far as I'm concerned, any attempt to make the Bond movies more gritty can only be a good thing, and I'm glad they're trying someone new...

Nope. Living Daylights has always been my favorite Bond film.
But it's not dark! It's superbright! It's campy!

I mean, I also liked it better than License to Kill, but goddamnit, to call it dark and gritty
just seems absurd to me. Heck, it even has a sloppy touchy-feely romantic ending!
