Creating a demi-human race and society

So they have a love of mirrors (mirrored doors and walls to provide 'quiet spaces and perhaps nobles wear elaborate headdress involving dangling silver mirrors which entirely surround their heads). They also have a love of prismatic colours and the way reflected light plays across a surface including pools of water.
This is developed along with their mining prowess into a cultural love of gems and the artistic use of genstones and reflective metals and mirros is a much valued aspect of their architectural design

The race seems to be lawful to me, a sophisticated and elegant people resplendent in polished armour and jewel encrusted trinkets. Families live together in small enclaves usually staying within a 60 ft radius. The people are urban and organised perhaps as an Oligarchy of 'ruling families' developed something along the lines of Venice with wealth derived from mining, investments and merchant trade. Bard is the favoured class

Mirrors reflecting light and colour is an important aspect of their art and water features including reflecting pools and water curtains are common architectural features. I think that in a DnD worl this will develop to be a cultural emphasis on magic or possibly psionics and in particular illusions.

Can we make the people Large?

How large do you want them?

Historically, these humans (of the Carolingian Empire) ranged from 4 feet to 5 feet tall (I think ...) due to their diet.

They're still 4 to 5 feet tall. We haven't changed that yet. The average 1st edition elf would stand on a par with them.

Yeah I can see these humans being comparable to another elfish subrace but think that is far too easy. My first instinct was actually to make them small but then they started to smell too much like Gnomes.

I think going for a 'Large' (9ft?) race that is also 'a sophisticated and elegant people' who make intricate art with mirrored surfaces would be an interesting dichotomy
