Okay, I feel a bit sheepish asking this, but it seems I just can't remember the rules on this. Can a character take a masterwork weapon they find in a dungeon (or wherever) and use that to create a magic weapon. Or is it the case that a masterwork weapon has to be specially created in order to be made into a magical weapon? Okay, done feeling stupid now.

Nope - any masterwork weapon will do.
EDIT: "Nope" as in, "No, it doesn't have to be a masterwork weapon specifically forged for the purposes of being made into a magic weapon."
