Some of the more organized and radical dezians of the Soot district have planned a way to force the high council to recognize their guild and accept them as equals in the city. They call themselves the Hammers Wrath. They have begun excavating tunnels beneath one of the tall, spindly buildings that houses a member of the high council and plan to destabilize the foundation with explosive materials mined from the top of the waterfall. Once the excavations are complete they will make their demands. If their guild is not recognized after the next council meeting they will destroy the foundation and collapse the building into the river. They are rightly fearful of the Inquisitors who have been trained in fighting underground and seek to root out any spies from among their numbers.

One of the more popuar Inns/Taverns is called the Grinning Goblin. It has a cartoonish goblin with an oversized smile on its sign.

Its been rumoured within ecclesiastical circles of the XON faith and within the City's political and noble circles that the presence of the Inquisitors as a special unit, serving as a nexus between the Church of Xon and the City's Guardsmen, will be a permanent feature of the City's law enforcement and this will be further reinforced with the arrival of the dreaded Wardens from the capitol. The Wardens will not only boost and reinforce the ranks of the newly created Inquisitors, but have been intended to oversee all matters pertaining to internal security, thus subordinating the City's Guardsmen below them and to bring the insolent half-orc captain of the guardsmen in line. The unit of Wardens that are presently enroute to the City will answer only to the The Elder Council and the Grand Assembly in the capitol and will be responsbile for all matters pertaining to the City's internal security as they are in the capitol city. The actual scope of their authority is known only to very few, one of whom is the City's Xonnite Bishop, the dwarf Jager Flamehammer.

Killian Darkblood, an influential member of both wizard academies, has thrown in his backing and volunteered his services and the services of his posse of mage allies to the Inquisitors' task of flushing out and exterminating socerers within the city and its immediate surroundings. Killian is an elf with a major fiendish bloodline which he is proud of. He has as many influential friends as he does influential enemies, he counts Edam Faustson as a close ally.

The first target of the warden´s investigation is Antiox Belcallus. The death of 3/5 of a force sent only a short time ago sealed Antiox´s fate. The High Warden and the church patriarchs are stunned that a half-orc managed to wrestle control from the leaders of the troops and kill off 300 people of a highly trained force in training exercises.

The role of Lady Tatianna in this affair will be under close scrutiny, too.

I believe you meant the Aasimar Paladin-Cleric, Lady Tatianna Pendragon, Lord-Captain of the Inquisitors?

The Soots District and Carpenter's District are both part of the Old Ward around the bottom of the waterfall. The Old Ward includes the Docks District and a few others between there and the Carpenter's District. These are the last remnants of the city's origin as a frontier port and mining town long ago.

Though some folks swear it doesn't exist, the elusive Lost Ward is much sought after by adventurers and explorers, for the great treasures it might hold. The dwelling place of famed wizard Scarthin Skeind, the Lost Ward vanished one day, if legend can be believed, during the course of one of his experiments, leaving only rumor, myth, and a great deal disappearances over the years.

Of course, most people will tell you that it's all a lot of hooey, and that the Lost Ward is a legend used to fleece the gullible...

While this metropolis is known merely as The City in these parts, it is also commonly known as Vallencia, the City of Marvel. Vallencia has 5 well defined Wards and each Ward has a varying number of Districts depending on the nature and the needs of the Ward in question. The nobility, the government of Vallencia, academic and arcane institutes, the city's libarary, etc are situated in the Throne Ward, which has 5 Districts within its lead encased walls.

In event of actual invasion by the forces of evil, each ward and district can be walled off, to contain the minions of the demons, and whatever other demons cannot fly around them.

At that point, the aerial walkways are used as floating (figuratively) ramparts for allowing archers to fire down upon them, and also for allowing the general populace to drop rocks, or oil, or whatever comes to hand upon them.

The crisscrossing design of the bridges allows archers to fire into the blind spots of other bridges.
