Creature Catalog now in Dragon Magazine

i have to say, you kick much ass for having the guts to convert the hordelings. i could never summon up the courage to tackle that one. ;)

A lot of it's just typing out all those damn tables... and figuring how much damage what attacks do at what sizes, applicable conversions for spell-like abilities, and how to handle the multiple hit dice thing...

Truth be told, I was sick from school one day, had a word processor, a MMII and a lot of spare time.

Demiurge out.

are you volunteering, Mortis? :D

<looks round to find everyone else has taken a sly step backwards>

I'll give the conversions a go, but doubt I'll be able to write the actual article. Might be best if I post them to the BD&D/Mystara thread?

Are the Mystaran Gem Dragons sufficently different to the ones in MMII to justify an article.
They don't have psionics but have a number of different breath weapons.

You also include the Dragon Rulers (3 immortal dragons to cover the BD&D alignments plus a fourth to Ruke Them All :D).

And the Night Dragons from the Princess Ark series.

the thing is, once the conversions are done, the article is nearly written. :)

well, if you are serious… :) before anyone does any conversions, we will need to write a proposal for you to send in to Paizo. No sense in doing all that work if they are not interested in the dragons in the first place! Since they are all Dragons and if they have age categories, they will have variable CRs (the editors want you to tell what creature type and CR each creature is), all we really need to do is write up a one-paragraph description about each one you are interested in.

Crystal, Diamond, Jade, Onyx, Opal, Pearl, and Ruby dragons from Mystara should be different enough from the gem dragons in the MM2. I’d recommend that you do a writeup for each of them, plus the other ones you mentioned. If you want a formula, I’d say one sentence to describe what they look like, one to describe their abilities and powers, and one to describe their personality and place in the world. We may have to skip the rulers due to space concerns, but we’ll worry about that later. Do all that, and we can talk more. :)

Sure, why not. The remaining chromatics would be ideal. I have conversions of the Orange and Purple allready in 3.5 format, I could probably crank out the yellow over a couple of days. And if three is too few, we can even add a lesser draconic deity to represent the three colors, a little sister to tiamat if you will.

Of course, that is just an idea.

Alternatly, we could choose a terrain and do half a dozen or so creatures to it. I think I have two or three creatures on my HD that would fit into a jungle setting with a aztec theme... (go Papalotl and Kisin!), and I have about a dozen creatures that would fit an arctic theme, including my resently posted Ice Naga.

Later,

well, you could do all three... :)

we will help you work on it together like we did with the illithid article.
