Creature Incarnations: Gnolls

HEY ARI. First, want to say this looks nice. Real snazzy. Woo, art. :D This is the "Gnoll Month" it seems.

However, question. The Abyssal Slaughter Lord's reaching claw. The attack damages, and then reads "the target slides 2 squares. An ally adjacent to the target can make an opportunity attack against the target."

The ally allowed to make an OA is the gnoll's ally, right? Or is it the target's ally? And if it's the latter, why would they take an OA against the target.

Yeah, that's meant to be an ally of the gnoll, not of the target. You're absolutely right that the latter wouldn't make a whole lot of sense. ;)

Very neat. I like how it seems you could run entire campaigns against some of the iconic monster groups (orcs, gnolls, etc) and keep the combat fresh and different. Great job Ari... articles like this really make DDI shine. Suddenly I'm trying to figure out reasons for my players to fight gnolls, and I think that means you're successful at your job.

Drat.

I love gnolls, but I can't read the article for some bizzare reason. I recently had to rebuild my computer (wretched iPhone) and even though I have Acrobat 9 on my system, i keep getting a window that says Acrobat 5 is unable to open pdfs in a window. Unfortunately, the Wizards site doesn't allow a simple download to disk.

Yes it does, though it's peculiar.

Right-click on the link and select "save as." It'll give you some program format you can't download. Hit cancel and do the same thing again. The second time, it'll give you the option to save as a PDF.

I have no idea why it works, but it does.
