Maybe don't assume I'm shaming people.
I don’t know how else to interpret accusations of attention-seeking and making characters with Isekai anime backstories.
Maybe don't assume I'm not a goth, too.
🤷‍♀️ I don’t know you, I only know what you post, and what you posted suggested a misapprehension of what goth is about. If I misread you, by all means please clarify your intent.

Cool! Yeah, I thought it was 3rd party, but I wasn’t 100% sure.

Tyranny is definitely a demon, not a tiefling. I watched an interview where Whitney talked about it, and she said the character concept literally started as just “I want to play a hot, pink demon,” and she said she didn’t realize at the time that demon wasn’t a playable D&D species, but that Brennan eagerly agreed to work with her to figure out a way to let her play one.
Gotta say I’m quickly reaching the point I wanna see character sheets and campaign maps and the whole shebang. I’m really digging the setting.

And we know Chris Perkins and Jeremy Crawford are on the team specifically to help with integrating homebrew into the 2024 rules.
Completely forgot about that. Jeah, Brennan is fine.
It sounded far more like Brennan thanking the behind the camera people at D20 and CR for their hard work in making these TV shows possible. Camera operators, set design, lighting, makeup, etc. Not that other people were co-DMs.
That would be quite a weird phrasing to thank the camera people. Brennan said multiple times that he has a creative team and CR also has staff like Dani Karr who is officialy a lore keeper. And like stated above they have frigging Perkins and Crawford on the team! You really think homebrew is a problem for them? You really think they don't want players to get homebrew mechanics?

Its clear that they embrace it, you don't have any reason to worry and its just your personal aversion of players like Taliesin.

But interestingly enough this discussion evoked something in me. I previously stated that I also don't like players with so many homebrew wishes at my table and shut them down. Maybe I'll change that now. Maybe I will see if and how I can get them their fantasy wish fullfillment, because isn't that a big reason we have this hobby.

Anyone track down the source for that yet? I know I saw it but I can't seem to find it again. Be great to go from the actual video instead of memory.

Times change. Perkins and Crawford were recent additions to their team. Prior to that it was all on Matt to do the heavy lifting despite having the equivalent to several full-time jobs.

There's a lot of assumption and half-reading of posts going on. I don't have a problem with Taliesin as a player. I detest the OC-style of play. Big difference. When Tal played Cad it was great. By far his best character to date. The one time in four campaigns he hasn't played an arrogant prick. What a type to default to.

I get there's a knee-jerk reaction against people saying anything that could even remotely be taken as negative, but it would be great if people would read what's posted and not jump to weird conclusions.

Good for you. And good luck.

Some people, yeah. Others, no. A lot lives and dies in the details.

So what exactly do you mean when you say “the OC style?” Evidently it’s not just homebrew options. You claim it’s not Taliesin as a person. It must not be playing an “arrogant prick,” cause Matt’s character doesn’t bother you in the same way. Apparently it’s not just being goth. What specifically about the way Taliesin plays do you hate so much?
