Cross-Genre D20M Setting/Game, Interested?

Hello all,

I just came from my local comic shop and was talking the the guy that works there about d20 in general, and mixed-genre role-playing in particular. He had told his group (5 people) to each choose one d20 book from all available and he would put together a campaign based on the material in those books. The books were:

Gamma World
Mutants and Masterminds
The Monsternomicon
Forgotten Realms (or Greyhawk, can't remember which, we talked about both)
Spycraft

(Weird combo, I know)

This did, however, get me thinking about starting up a project to create a multi-genre setting, ala Rifts (SHUSH don't tell Kevin!!) sort of, for d20 using d20M as the basis. Now to the point of this post:

Would anyone be interested in participating?

I am thinking of an all original setting, using both original and OGC material (with written permission from the publisher ONLY) for d20M.

The working title that I have come up with is The Patchwork Lands and the basic concept is that the trickster Gods of different Pantheons (from original pantheons, to Norse, Native American, etc...) have all got together to have a little fun. They each pull people, monsters, tracts of land, terrain, objects, etc... etc.... from various worlds and created the Patchwork Lands (PL) to hold them.

The PLs would consist of Domains (terrain from wherever) as enclosed "chunks" that can be inserted next to any other Domain that the GM wishes, thus a "Patchwork Land". The Domians would be relatively small, say 100 miles max, so as to allow many such areas to be used without massive ammounts of travel.

Anyway, is anyone interested in working on this idea with me (the concept IS subject to change, BTW)? If so, post here. If there is enough interest, I will set up a site (off of me neurozombie.com server) and Message Board so that we can keep it a bit seperate for organizational purposes.

Let me know!

I've been doing this ever since D20 Modern came out. My campaign is mostly a re-tooling of Rifts to fit with D20 Modern, but I do have other elements from D20 games as well. For instance, I use a combination of mutants from DW1 (DW2 is on my to-buy list) and GW, I've added Jedi Knights and Force Users from SW D20, and monsters and races from all my gaming books (everything from D&D to the new Star Trek Aliens book). It's a bit rough in spots and could use some more playtesting in areas, but it has been great fun so far. So needless to say, it can be done. (Now I need to buy the revised 4CtF so I can add super-heroes into the world as well...)

Sounds great! Thats basically the type of thing I am working on as well, but I want to leave the rifts-related stuff out so that I can post in on a web site and maybe eventually put together a pdf. Mr. Siembeda would have a fit if I even mentioned the word "Rifts" let alone used any ideas from his books. That is why I came up with the "Gods at Play" idea, to distance it from rifts.

So far, most of the conversions I've done have been pretty simplistic just to get a feel for how well Palladium-stuff will convert. I've done mostly races right now, but I have tried my hand at converting weaponry over as well. I'm still up in arms as to how I'm going to convert cybernetics. I like the straight-forward way that the Star Wars Hero's Guide handles cyber as opposed to Gamma World D20. I would like to look at Mongoose's Cybernet book as well, but I haven't ordered it yet. I think that whatever I decide on will likely switch to however D20 Future handles it, but we'll have to wait until later on next year for that...I would love to be able to post my work, but like you said KS would pitch a prima donna fit if I did. Anyway, there are some things that I can post, like my modifications for the use of Force Adpets and Jedi in D20 Modern. So far, I've also had a lot of luck using SW Prestige Classes as Advanced and Prestige classes in D20 Modern as is. A little tweaking is needed, but very little. What I need to do is write my own "bible" of sorts that compiles all the details in an easy to reference book that I use in my games. (I also would like to get one written for my fantasy games as well.)
