Crossbow of ______ing?

I'm making a crossbow for one of my villians that does extra damage via a Force effect- just like flaming/shocking/etc.. So what would be the descriptor for that? Is it "Blasting"? Also, am I right in thinking that since Force effects aren't something one can be resistant against that this would be a +2 enhancement?

Are there any examples in print of a Force enhanced weapon? Would it be too much to say that since it is a +2 enhancement it does an extra 1d8 of damage rather than 1d6? Any other enhancements that would go well with such a weapon? I'm thinking Knockback and the Ammo-storing one from Magic of Faerun would go quite well.

Check the Arms and Equipment Guide.

There's a generic "Force" special ability that does +1d6 Force damage; there's also a specific "Bow of Force" that actually turns any arrow fired from it into a force missile.

Well, it's still not Hank's Energy Bow.

You need to supply the arrows, and you can't pull off any of the "special effects" arrow tricks he used to use...

I wondered how long it would take for a Hank the Ranger or a Star Wars reference. My money was on the very first post though. :p

Actually one of my first characters back in 1983 had a crossbow like Hank's. My DM claimed it wasn't a rip off because it was a CROSSbow, plus it shot GREEN bolts, not golden! It was a cool weapon though. Actually I've wondered how you'd re-create it in 3E. Some kind of Brilliant Energy effect that could hit anybody (including undead and such). Or you could just do a Force effect and say it doens't need physical arrows/bolts. But how could you do the ropes he could shoot, or the overhead flares? What else could it do? Didn't he tie somebody up with a rope shot once? Hmmm...

Also, Hypersmurf- that sounds like what I'm looking for but I don't have the Arms & Equipment guide. What was the enhancement bonus for the Force effect?

+3. It also might dispel force effects, such as a shield spell or bracers of armor, and you have no miss chance against incorporeal creatures (obviously).

I wonder why there's a dispelling effect against other Force effects? Well if you dropped that bit then +2 for the Force effect itself seems about right then. Then you'd have +3 for Force Burst weapon. Does that seem correct to everyone?

In most of my campaigns (and there have been a lot), I've always given out a Magic Missile bow. If you supplied the arrows, it shot actual magic missiles, and if you didn't have any arrows, it still shot magic missiles, but you had to succeed at an attack rolls... Haven't converted it to 3E yet... hmmm..

Perhaps, but now we're into house rules, which go elsewhere. Check this out. Let me know what you think.
