[CRPG/BG2] Anyone used the Darkest Day Mod?

Nightfall

Just curious what people think of this mod IF they've used it. Or any other BG mod that they've might have used?

Ascention is a good mod for Throne of Bhaal. It was actually made by one of the game's creators. It makes some of the boss battles tougher, adds more detailed character epilogues, and some other changes. I found it to be a nice add-on for the game.

I had that mod on another computer. It was alright. I was just curious since I installed BG2 on another computer (without the patch) and wondered if Darkest Day was worth getting.

whenever I see the Darkest Day I think Half-life, why is that?

I'd get it if not for the fact it would take ten hours or more to download and that's assuming a good uninterrupted connection.

A friend said he's going to get DSL and a CD-R in a month or two and if so I'll probably be able to talk him into downloading it and putting it on a cd for me.

TeamBG has a review here. The verdict: it's good. Apparently it has bug issues so it might be worth waiting a bit until most of them have been squashed.

Personally, I preferred the original epilogues they crafted for the NPCs to those in Ascension. Other than that, though, it's awesome. You have to get it if you liked TOB.

Ya know, I'm not aware of any other game franchise that's eaten so much of my life as the BG games. I still have fond memories of tramping around the Sword Coast with my motley crew of 5th-7th level characters. Fighting kobolds, and running away from basilisks. Or was it the other way round? Going on one oddball quest after another, just as an excuse to kill more monsters. Ah, those were innocent days. Sorta like 1st Ed D&D, really.

Note that TeamBG is the same group that put out Darkest Day. Something to keep in mind while reading reviews hosted on their site.

Yeah but I've also heard good things from some reliable mags, Hong, like Computer Gaming World and I'm pretty sure PC Gamer had a review of it too. Still I may just wait and see if I can get another copy some where. I did try to download it, but I don't think I want to pay 12.95 JUST to download a mod from Gamespy.

Anyway thanks guys. I'll guess we'll just wait and see.

I'm playing through BG2 again with TDD installed. I like it, but I can't help but be turned off by all the grammar mistakes and run-on sentences and what-not. TDD is FULL of this crap, and it really ruins the mood. That's what I get for having an English degree, I guess. Sigh.
