Every word has purpose and meaning; what is frustrating and annoying is when a term is overly misused. This is especially true for any negatively-inclined descriptor, which most commonly just become a catch-all for "thing that I dislike".

I just seen on another thread- Mary Jane / Mary Sue / Billy Bob, whatever we call the name besides Superman.

To be fair Mary Jane Rotten-Crotch was a name we used back in the Army. She was not that powerful unless you came back from leave with a little extra.
