First Post
November 28, 2003: Cryptosnark Games is pleased to announce that it will be offering two CD Package Deals for a very limited time this holiday season! Get Cryptosnark PDFs mailed to you on CD, at a substantially reduced price per PDF, with bonus material not available anywhere else!

The Deeds Not Words Package Deal

Get all three of the following PDFs:

Deeds Not Words Revision 1.1, super-heroic adventure for the d20 system, chock full of crunch and details, 376 pages;

Laying the Smack Down 1.1, a combat sourcebook for DNW, containing 100+ new feats, 60 pre-created NPC opponents, and a heap of new and exotic weaponry ranging from powered armor to trick arrows and boomerangs,110 pages;

Bold Costumes, Black Hearts 1.1, (due to be released on December 2), a super-villain sourcebook for DNW, containing a whopping 85 fully-statted and described villain NPCs, including five complete villain teams (the Zero-Sum Gang, the New York Dolls, the Nocturne, the War Saints, and the Midnight League) and ten archetypical "variable villains," each with five different stat blocks at different levels of power! Plus villain creation tips, villain quotes, specialized gear for goons and henchmen, the Random Secret Base Generator, the Goonmaker, and the Random Ninja Generator! 150 pages.

All in all, that's nearly 650 pages of material, but that's not all. You'll also get:

--Draft versions of three new heroic classes from the upcoming DNW sourcebook Pow! Super!-- the super-soldier, the supercop, and the super-athlete;

--All current errata and update material;

--An all-new Variable Villain, the Dreamstealer, with five different stat blocks and complete background information and adventure hooks

--A free introductory adventure for characters of Threat rating 1-4, "A Larp Less Ordinary," in which an underachieving supervillain uses the unwitting players of a Live-Action Roleplaying Game to further his nefarious ends... at least in theory.

--The demo versions of all non-DNW Cryptosnark PDFs

--A copy of the Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks Freeware Edition

--The original version of Deeds Not Words, originally released in July, 2002, if you're curious to see what it looked like and how it's evolved since then.

The Deeds Not Words Package Deal: includes $26.50 worth of stuff if bought separately in PDF format, but it's yours on CD (with jewel case) for $15-- shipping and handling included, anywhere in the United States or Canada!

The Cryptosnark Collection Package Deal

Get every PDF in the Cryptosnark catalog, including the three DNW PDFs already discussed, plus the following:

The Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks, the one and only character flaw/advantage system for fantasy d20-- 70 pages;

The Book of Distinctions & Drawbacks Modern, a high-quality adaptation of the system found in the original BODD for use with the d20 Modern system. 70 pages;

Killers: Cold Hearts and Hired Knives, a collection of 18 lethal NPCs for fantasy d20, each with two full stat blocks at different power levels and detailed background information! This is the upcoming revision of Killers I, not otherwise due for release until December 15th! 50 pages; and

Thaumatech: Modern Magic Items, a collection of 200 contemporary-era magic items (100 rings and 100 wondrous items) for use with arcane d20 Modern games! 38 pages!

As if that weren't enough-- more than 870 pages of d20 supers, fantasy, and Modern material-- you'll get all the bonus material included on the DNW Package Deal CD, plus the following:

--A teaser preview for Cryptosnark's upcoming Imprimo, Exulto: The Guide to Fantasy Special Forces, and

--Crunch Time, a d20 mini-game of real fantasy football playable with d20 miniatures and characters created from scratch or taken out of your own campaigns! Place your Spellbacks carefully, line up your Bashers and Sacrificial Blockers, sneak a Defensive Assassin onto the field, and play for blood! Each game is controlled by a unique double-blind play-calling system to keep things moving-- combat is resolved in the traditional d20 manner! Flagrant rules violations may be attempted, but beware-- the impartial referee (a Great Wyrm) may decide to carry out On-Field Enforcement of penalties! Systems are included for team generation (and drafting), offensive and defensive line record-keeping, and purchase and use of magic items out of team funds.

The Cryptosnark Collection Package Deal: includes $48.75 worth of stuff if bought separately in PDF format (not even counting bonus material), but it's yours on CD (with jewel case) for $20-- shipping and handling included, anywhere in the United States or Canada!

Having never used PayPal (and having heard just enough horror stories about it to be a touch hesitant), could one of these packages be bought via the traditional check-and-snail-mail route? A check mailed domestically should reach you well in advance of the December 10 deadline.

The $20 deal sounds really cool, but I hate to miss out on the RPG Now sale and THEN find out that I can't order the CD...

Please let me know. Thanks!

Absolutely! Instructions for doing so may be found at the bottom of my catalog page:

http://www.minasithil.com/cryptosnarkgames/catalog.html

Just send along an e-mail when you send off the check, letting me know to keep my eye on the mailbox. ;)

Cheers!

December 12th rather than the 10th.

New info! I will be able to extend this sale until the 12th at least, and possibly to the 13th.

Cheers and best,

I see on the website that the CD sale eventually got pushed out to the 16th...is this going to affect the expected delivery of the CDs by Christmas?

(It also seems that the revised PDF for Bold Costumes, Black Hearts, expected on December 2, has not appeared on RPG Now. Because this PDF is to be included on the CDs, I fear that any snags in the revision process might also have resulted in a delay.)

Just getting a bit anxious to dig into the Deeds, Not Words stuff! Thanks for any update.

Does anyone know where Scott is? I can't seem to get an email response out of him, and I haven't gotten a shipping confirmation email, nor a CD in the mail (though I did get an order confirmation right after I payed on 10 December).

Cryptosnark's usually excellent with customer service so I'm kind of worried that something happened to Mr Lynch...

Perhaps he didn't get your e-mail. I too am waiting for a CD, and Scott has been in touch with me briefly regarding the situation.

Apparently there was a major screwup by FedEx. Scott said he sent out 22 CDs just before Christmas, and only 10 of those (at the time of that e-mail) actually arrived. He was going to follow up with FedEx and file a complaint, but I believe he also intended to burn and ship new CDs to those who hadn't received their copies yet.

Hang in there!

I'm going to try emailing him again, but I don't have high hopes. I just did a search and it doesn't look like Scott's posted on EN World since December - this thread was the last, I think. Let's hope he's well!

For what it's worth, you're not alone. I still haven't received a CD either, and there are at least a couple of people on the Deeds, Not Words Yahoo group who are also without one.

No one seems to have heard from Scott in quite a while. Having just recently joined the Yahoo group, I got the impression he was a frequent poster, answering rules questions and such. However, his last post seems to have been a month ago (around 1/13/04), and several other members are now posting "Where's Scott?" messages.

It does seem worrisome...
