Hundreds of years ago, life in the Known World was vastly different than it is today. A cataclysm, the source of which causing a hundred years of speculation and dissent, sundered the world like nothing else that came before it. The whole of the revered Immortals were torn from the heavens, their once grandiose designs of the universe laid to waste. In the aftermath, those whose alliegiance was strongest with the gods were likewise torn from the realms of the living, nary a trace of their passing beyond the memory of their presence.

In the decades that followed, archaic magicks were rediscovered; all manner of sentient creatures fled from the world; and technologies increased at alarming rates. Handgonners with Arquebuses altered the fields of battle, proving to be a match for any mounted knight let alone spellcaster. The Known world has since rebuilt itself, adopting a simplistic monotheistic religion administered by the few righteous and faithful remaining.

Karn is not the sharpest tool in the shed, by any means, but he hates the undead with a passion that knows no bounds. He is also a dedicated, careful investigator, although his grasp of some of the finer points of any investigation will elude him. He is a dedicated smiter of evil, and the mere sight of his gruff aspect has caused some evildoers to quake with fear and spontaneously confess. Karn's hatred of the undead stems from the fact that his mother was slain by a ghoul just outside her home one night. Since then, he has pursued them with great zeal, and so far, his desire for vengeance is unabated.

[I wanted to wait until I see whether my concept for Karn is in line with what you are looking for before I totally finish him. Hope that's ok.]
 

I happen to be in love with low-magic settings. As you can see I'm relatively new to this forum and most of my posts have so far been on different forums for pbp. I'll be reading your house rules and then working on character concept and design. I have yet to read anything but what you put in your first post but I'm hoping for some type of gunslinger/fencer type character.

What is a bonus racial feat? Does it work the same way that the bonus human feat does? If that is the case, does that mean that humans now start with two feats? [According to the race house rules]
