Cthulhu vs 13 i conic 20th levels= winner cthulhu. BUT what about vs 20th level smack

Keep in mind that your PsyWarr smackdown characters need to make Will saves (DC 29) against Cthulhu's divine aura or be dazed, and also need to avoid going insane before they can attack.

Not to mention that using Psychofeedback to boost your Str high enough to do lethal damage to something with DR 40/+4 and 882 hp smacks of ultimate cheese (I rule 0'd that power the moment I saw it).

But otherwise, I agree with CWD. It's not like big C won't be back when the stars are right...

Someone who accuses a smackdown character of being cheesy has, I think, missed the point of a smackdown.

I don't know anything about 'ol C, but it seems like he would have Regeneration 50 or 100 and require a wish to kill permenantly.

And of course in the CoC universe, anybody that could cast wish would be so insane that they wouldn't want to kill Cthulhu.

Oh, come on. As if any self-respecting charge smackdown character won't have Ride-By Attack. :D

Unfortunately, ride-by-attack doesn't prevent AoO against the *mount*.

Of course, you do get the chance to make a ride check to get the mount to dodge; although with Cthulus +56 attack bonus not many of them are going to beat his attack roll...

Whoops. Horses all eaten and a group of very strong psychic warriors standing on the ground 20ft away from a hungry Cthulu...

Well, an item that gives +40 to ride checks could be made for 32k according to the guidelines in the DMG. That would ensure that at least some of the riders got through. Also, I thought I read somewhere that ride by attack does actually protect the mount?

Not knowing much about the Cthulu universe, I have to ask, why should he be so hard to kill? Isn't he more of an alien than a god anyway. He's not like normal DnD gods which are more or less the personfication of an idea, and have no physical form. He's a big squid thing! If its got a body, you can probably kill it, its just very hard.

The consensus on the Rules forum seems to be that it does, indeed, protect the mount.

Cthulhu is more-or-less the personification of the idea that the universe is out to get you. :)

True. But the following, when used to generate smackdown scenarios, really get my goat:

1) Psychofeedback
2) Telekinesis
3) Burned-out ioun stones
4) Snails
5) Blind kobolds (fortunately errata'd)
6) Infinite feedback-loop spelldancing

Beside the point, of course...

I also will point out that a couple of sailors used a sloop to temporarily "kill" Big C; given that, it seems to me that some incredibly powerful (dare I say godlike?) heroes should be able to do the same.

Okay, now all we have to figure out is:

a) How much does a sloop weigh?, and

b) Can a sloop attain a velocity comparable to that of an object that has been in free-fall for at least ten feet?

Given that, we can assign a damage rating for being rammed with a sloop and figure out just how overkill one has to get. ;)
