Cubicle 7 announce Dr Who RPG

What kinda rules would be involved? Dr Who (from what I've seen) is a very no-combat sort of story. Would if be just social combat, and puzzle-deception combat? Who plays a Timelord? Or is the GM the Timelord dragging the players around as companions?

Well, Cubicle 7 currently ows the rights to SLA Industries (or did, last I checked). I would not be surprised to see a variant of that core mechanic show up in Doctor Who (which is fine by me, as I'm both an SLA fan and a Who fan). In related banter, I suspect that this announcement may have something to do with why the BBC wasn't entertaining RPG licenses for Torchwood earlier this year.

I have a suspicion that the licence may also include Torchwood and Sarah Jane Adventures (the BBC TV kids series) which would potentially make this a great introductory game for kids. Unfortunately I missed the launch session at Dragonmeet so I can't confirm this - having been totally distracted by a combination of the bar, talking to old friends, and a Chessex stand that was just oh so tempting....

Torchwood

Torchwood would make a much better game world over Dr. Who. It's a close knit, small group of experts who specialize in different skill sets, not much different from a standard RPG party.
Although, I'm not entirely sure how you replicate the clingy, whiney, "I'm so alone, I have no one to talk to, and relate to members of the opposite/same sex in the same way that a hormonal 14 year old would." mechanic in the game system.

Do you get extra feats if you take Bisexual and emotionally stunted as a character background?

It's a brand new system that Dave Chapman (Lead Developer) has devised. It's unrelated to any other current product in the Cubicle 7 range.

On one hand, I'm somewhat disappointed. On the other hand, very much intrigued. Oh, out of curiosity, can you confirm or deny the suspicion that Torchwood might be part of the license deal?

Fantastic news---I can't wait to see their take on the series.

Oddly enough, I'll be doing Dr. Who using Primetime Adventures in a month or so.
