Curious about something: would you play in an AD&D campaign?

All things being equal, would you be willing to play in an AD&D 1e campaign?

With the advent of 4e I've been doing a lot of soul-searching re: the version of D&D I want to spend the next ten years with. I know it ain't 4e or 2e or OD&D. Ditto B/X/RC D&D. Nothing against any of 'em, but they just ain't the ones for me.

OTOH, 3.0/3.5 continue to tantilize me.

Yet I am, honestly and truly, deeply fond of AD&D 1e. So I ask a simple question, just out of idle curiosity.

Let's say all things being equal (the DM is a great guy, it's a good group of people, you have enough free time, etc.) . . . would you be willing to play in an AD&D 1e campaign?

EDIT: Mind you, I'm not actually trying to start an AD&D 1e campaign or anything. Just curious about how many ENWorld types would be, at least in theory, interested.

EDIT 2: Yes, I'm familiar with dragonsfoot.org.

While it would never be my first choice--I'm really fond of 4E--if I had a group I enjoyed gaming with, and they all wanted to play 1E--and I couldn't talk them into 4E ;)--sure, I'd be up for it.

Maybe. A lot of it depends upon whether it was limited to the core rules (which I prefer), whether it would be a sandbox campaign or be shackled to published modules (I would prefer the former), and who else was playing (there are some posters here and elsewhere whom I simply cannot abide).

I voted no. While there are gems of unused fluff to be found in many AD&D books, the system sounds like a machine with sand between it´s cogs to me. There are too many games that do the crunchy side much better today.

If that was the only game in town, sure I'd play, and I'd probably have fun playing too. But as fond as my memories of playing a Cavalier are, 1E will never be on my preferred game list.

Nope

I don't have anything against that version, but if I'm going to play a game like that, I'll play 3.5; I know it best, and know how to have fun with it.

If I really felt like learning a new game system, I'd hold out for a system completely new to me (Reign) or my favorite, not-oft-played games (In Nomine).

Sure I would. But if I had it to do all over again I'd have waited for The Fantasy Trip to come out and made that our game of choice back in the day.

Hell. :):):):)ing. Yeah. I love old school systems... B/X D&D is my game of choic now but no probs playing AD&D, though prefer 2nd Ed dur to streamlining and more organized rules. Not really sure whats the huge diff between the two editions.
