D&D 5E Curse of Strahd: Travel time in Barovia (minor spoilers)

How long would it take a party to travel from the village of Barovia to Vallaki? Counting the hexes, it looks like somewhere near 15 miles, which even at a slow pace can be done in a day. Does this seem right? What about travel time between other locations?

Count hex's each one is 1/4 mile. And a party can move 24 miles in a single day at normal pace.

So going by road on the shortest route it is about 16 miles. Just count hexs when ever they head somewhere.

Not just tiny, it should feel claustrophobic. Everything is within reach of Strahd's grasping claws

Not to mention it should be hard to get anywhere without having 2 encounters every 12 hours. Night time travel is probably a big no-no too...well unless they are suicidal.

Exactly how he likes it!

You know it would add to the horror factor to let the party go from point A, leaving Strahd there, to point B only to find Strahd waiting for them. It would make people think there are more Strahds! With a campaign map this small it's possible.

I agree, although to me it looks more like 18 miles (did you go through the camp at the falls or around?). Still, that's between 5 and 6 hours of normal travel pace (PHB) or about 1 day's worth of travel. Also that would make logical sense; towns would spring up about a day's travel away from each other.

I guess that would make Krezk about 7 miles from Vallaki, or maybe 2-3 hours (half day)? So if you really pushed it you could get from Barovia to Krezk in a day, but it'd probably be dark before you got there.
