Custom Exalted Feats

Bonus or no bonus, Power of Holiness still seems wrong somehow. And it really should be Epic (because players aren't likely to take it sooner).

Eolin,

Thanks for giving us some custom feats. I'm not sure how to judge Power of Holiness except that, given the polarity of opinion both for and against, it seems middle of the road. As with some of the other response, I'm not sure how getting DR 0 spread over 5 levels would work. Could you illustrate?

Conceptually, I think its great as the Vow of Peace really doesn't give you many tools to only do nonlethal damage. Vow of Poverty, while stripping you of all your stuff, does compensate the character with ways to make up for the lack of material tools.

Playing a character w/a Vow of Peace would be very, very challenging and I definately support the idea of feat trees based off of it. This Vow is a cool idea, but w/o more things to back it up it would lead to an often unplayable character. (Or one that must atone very, very often, if that even works to restore your vow.)

Thanks again to everyone for the input and keep those exalted feats coming!

A feat that gives you 10 feats? I think not.

A feat that gives you a divine rank? I think not.

Divine ranks should come from in-game quests and have absolutely nothing to do with the rules system.

Feats that give more feats are just a bad idea. As for Vow of Peace... PCs should pretty much never take it... it's just too restrictive. It's definitely far more appropriate for an NPC who can afford to be utterly unhelpful to her party. However, if you can somehow still be effective in battle, it is very strong and does not need any help, let alone giving TEN feats.

Souljouner, don't think those feats were at about the same power level as the rest of the book of exalted deeds?

You're right, though. Those feats might have been a little underpowered. Instead of every other level, it should grant 3 feats per level. So take it at 20th level, and you get an additional 60 feats. And you do not need to meet the normal prerequisite. I think that's fair, given the RPing restrictions put on exalted characters.

And it also shoudn't give Divine Rank 0, you're right. Instead, it should be a feat that increases divine rank by one, going to zero if you currently do not have one. that sounds about right.

I mean, clearly the roleplaying consequences of being an exalted character outweigh the minimal bonuses feats like this give. And game balance should be managed through rolepalying consequences being balanced by mechanical benefits. If anything, these feats should be more powerful. That weigh they'd be closer to the ones printed in the Book of Exalted Deeds.

Force of Personality

Add Charisma modifier to damage instead of strength.

You do realize that there already is a feat called Force of Personality, right? It's from Complete Adventurer, and allows you to use your Charisma modifier in place of your wisdom modifier for will saves.

No, no, no. Non nyet nanka nein NERF!

Here's a feat worthy of being called Exalted:

Force of Personality [Exalted, Bad-A Mo' Fo']
You are way cooler than anyone else, and your God knows it.
Benefit: Add your Charisma bonus to attack, damage, saves, and AC, even if you already could add it to one or more of those already.
