Custom Spell: Alyssarhi's Xenomorphic Infusion

A 6th level caster can't cast this spell. Minimum is 11th level (if you're a wizard), and you'd get 8 HD.

Congratulations on your observation, however misplaced it is. I am aware that a 6th level mage cannot cast the spell. I was referring to the 6th circle of magical prowess...that is to say 6th level spells. To reiterate my question with this new enlightenment, can you summon an 8 HD--make that 9 HD, according to the new math--creature via 6th level SPELLS? I have never experimented with summoning spells and am unfamiliar with the rules that you and Jeremy have delineated.

9 HD worth of abilities acquired vicariously through a template is still pretty beefy as a 6th level spell, IMHO.

Can you summon an 8 HD creature at 6th level?

I don't think it's too unreasonable to understand how I could have misinterpreted this question at all. :( Your reply seemed a tad harsh but I could be misinterpreting through the glory of written prose as usual.

You start getting 8-12 HD creatures at Summon Monster V, so to answer your question: Yes, you can get 8 HD templated creatures with a 6th level spell. 1d3 of them in fact. Or you can get a 12 HD dire bear.

To give you an idea of some of the powers of the templates (given a 12th level caster; 9 HD for purposes of applying templates!) :D

1.) Celestial- Smite Evil +9 1/day, Darkvision 60', Acid/cold/elec resistance 15, DR 5/+2, SR 18.

2.) Earth- Burrow 20', Natural Armor +3, Earth Mastery (+1 to attack and damage vs earth-bound creatures, -4 to air- or water-bound creatures), Darkvision 60', DR 5/+1, +2 STR, -2 DEX.

3.) Air- Fly 100(Perfect), Air Mastery (non-air-bound creatures take -1 to attack and damage), DR 5/+1, DEX +6.

Dunno

I don't think it's too unreasonable to understand how I could have misinterpreted this question at all.

Not at all, if you interpret me as an idiot. Casting a 6th level spell at 6th level? Come on... :p

I still don't know about this spell. And we haven't heard anything from Jeremy on this yet. You out there J-dog?

Certainly interesting, I like it. Personally I'd get rid of the 3/4 bit and just make it equal to the caster level, from a cursory examination I can't imagine that would break it, and in fact I would consider it to be more appropriate for the level it is that way.

Hmmm...no...

3/4 caster level is powerful enough...and like I said...perhaps too beefy. Velenne, you need to kick Jeremy in the butt to make him get up here.
