I made this custom template way earlier (think I even posted part of it here) but I am getting back into D&D again and would like some feedback before I allow my players to use it :
It's really just the standard Half-Dragon Template from the MM but with the following changes:
L0: +2 Bonus to Listen checks. (Player gets this at Char Creation).
L1: +2 Str, + 2 Con, Darkvision 60 ft. Dragonblood subtype, Low-light vision, natural armor +1, +4 racial bonus on saves against sleep and paralysis, +2 Bonus to Intimidate, Spot. Search checks. Powerful Build Trait.
Powerful Build: At Level 1 of this template they get the Powerful Build Trait. (I really don't see why a Half-Dragon should not have this.
L2: +2 Str, + 2 Int, +2 Char, Bite , breath weapon (Weak), Immunity to energy, natural armor +1 (+2 Total)
L3: +4 Str, Breath weapon (full) , true dragon type, natural armor +2 (+4 Total), Wings
Breath Weapon (Weak): 1/2 of (1d8 per 1/2 Class Levels) , DC: 10 + 1/2 Class Level + Con Mod, Once a Day.
Breath Weapon (Full): 1d8 per 1/2 Class Levels , DC: 10 + 1/2 Class Level + Con Mod, Once every 1d4 Rounds.
Wings: As per Dragonborn of Bahamut. (Initially gains Increase to Jump and Glide ability, at 6th Class Level can Fly at 30 feet at average...etc)
Optional Epic Half-Dragon (Really Unsure on Balance of This. Should only be taken above Lvl 20):
L4: +2 Con, +2 Char Fly Speed increased to 2x Base Land Speed. Darkvison 120 ft. Improve Flight maneuvrability by One step. Grow a Tail (Get Dragon Tail feat). Gain Scent Ability. Natural armor + 1, Awaken Frightful Presence (Monsterous Feat from Draconomicon, page 67, use Class Level instead of Racial HD).
L5: +2 Con, +2 Int Can Fly in Medium armor, Improve Flight maneuvrability by One step, Blind sight 60 ft. Natural armor + 2, Awaken Spell Resistance (Monsterous Feat from Draconomicon, page 67 use class level instead of Racial HD), Optional: Grow one size category -> Medium to Large..
Please evaluate and critique.
Opinions would be appreciated particularly whether you guys think it is still worth a +3 LA at regular with the Powerful build trait? and how good is the Epic Version? Would you want to trade in an epic level for this?
