Customization -- Arrows?

Does anybody know of a place to get some pre-made arrows for putting onto archer minis (since they almost never come with arrows on them)? Or, failing that, for any handy techniques to make arrows that look all right? The idea of trying to put fletching onto a pin makes me curl up and make undignified whimpering noises.

Flat Tapering Toothpick

Crush end with a pair of pliers

Whittle down with file or xacto knife.

Super glue to harden

Use bigger toothpics for giant's crossbow bolts.

The Archer figure for the Iron Heroes miniatures line from Magnificent Egos includes several pewter arrows. They look nice, and are properly scaled. They are however so thin I'm hesitant to even paint them because even thin washes will build them up fast. frankthedm's method above does well - my buddy Colin made a number of toothpick swords to paint and leave around a dungeon.

The Games Workshop skeleton box sets have some individual plastic arrows in it.

Soft copper or brass rod, thinner than that normally used to pin mini pieces together can be cut the right length and hammered to make the fletchings or strongly squeezed with a pair of smooth-faced pliers to get them. Do the fletching first, then cut the piece off. If you reverse the nippers so that the V is facing the would-be arrow, you can even get a decent point for an arrowhead. You can get decent copper line from appliance cords from items you throw out or recycle when they stop working right.
