Customizing Miniatures

First Post
Poking around WotC's Star Wars archive, I came upon this article involving customizing Star Wars minis. That's something I really miss about Star Wars miniatures vice others (e.g. Warhammer) - being able to build & paint my own. I like the Star Wars minis, and the game's rules aren't too bad, but I'm hesitant to chop up any of my minis since it's hard to go find exact replacements.

So I'm wondering if someone's done the dirty work for me. If so, how did it go? Are there any tricks to the process you can point out? Pics of the final results?

I've customized WOtC's D&D minis, which are the same style as the Star Wars ones. It's really easy to do and the results are worth it. That article is a good introduction, so just give it a try using some minis you might have extras of and don't particularly mind "losing." Just realize they may not hold up to abuse the same as a regular mini once they have been modified. You might need to take special care when storing them, etc.
