I'm more than happy to act as a "Does this sound crazy" sort of bouncing board for ideas, though. I think if you imagine chases like the asteroid chase in Empire, you can pretty easily map Hot Pursuit rules to that.
Fair enough. As I said, I think it'd work pretty well with space chases.

satori01: these rules will definitely give you lots of ideas on how to jazz that episode up. I may be biased, here ( :D ) but I think you'll find them helpful a lot.

Folks, whatever ideas or reactions you have, I want 'em. I think of this as the 1.0 release -- definitely ready for prime time, no serious bugs, but with a fair amount of room for expansion and consolidation. It's kind of my mission to bring chase scenes to the same level as combat scenes in d20 play -- I need help to do that. But I think Hot Pursuit is the first big step in that direction.
 

My review is done. I translated the summary for your information:
Hot Pursuit is a solid and not too complicated system for chases. To me, the provided rules help you to easily employ exciting and fast chases – as long as you’re using a vehicle. A DM will have to do some work himself for foot chases (just like air or space chases, and races), but the majority of the work has still been done for him, since most maneuvers and rules will apply as is. The errors or unclear descriptions in the examples are annoying, but they will be taken care of with the new version to be out soon.

When all is said and done, Hot Pursuit profits from the author’s stance of choosing fun and excitement over realism (as is visible in his own rules change regarding fruit carts, for example). If you are looking for a chase system (and maybe even liked what you saw in Grim Tales), you should take a look. If you enjoy using Spycraft’s system and don’t think it’s too cumbersome, you needn’t buy Hot Pursuit – though you still might like it.

Rated 3,6 on a 0,1 to 4,9 scale.
 




I had a great chase not too long ago in my Modern game. Four of the PC's were captive in the back of a 2 1/2 ton truck with one of them shadowing the truck convoy. The PC's got loose and a gunfight ensued at a range of about 4 feet inside the truck. The truck swerving wildly while the driver tried to avoid getting shot and from the outside the truck looked as if there was a photo shoot going on inside. Lots of flashes from muzzle blast, some hearing damage and flash burns. Eventually they managed to eject the guards from the back of the truck and unwisely decided to try and kill the truck driver. The driver bailed out and the truck crashed throwing everyone around. A few pc's were badly wounded but miraculously no one was killed. I'm not doing this justice as I had everyone on the edge of their seats for about 3 hours, describing the action.
