Cut To The Chase

Ber: I meant to add your name into the credits but forgot to transmit the change to Adamant. My apologies and thanks for your careful editing! Sure hope I didn't introduce new bugs...

Thank you for a supplement that will find much use...

I picked this up today and feel compelled to echo the popular sentiment - Good Job Corey. Having read through the book, I believe that these rules will work well for me.

I have already printed out and lamenated The Chase Table, Chase Maneuvers, Passenger Maneuvers and Obstacle Maneuvers pages for in game use (with dry erase markers).

My Friday night game will most assuredly contain a chase (eight PCs after a four-armed female assassin carrying an artifact-level dagger and accompanied by a dozen cohort assassins through a jungle inhabited by dangerous beasts - of course, the chasers and chased may quickly change depending on in-game developments), so I guess that I will be putting your rules to the test.

Again, thank you.

...One more thing...

It has been pointed out that a straight attribute check - Strength - for foot chases will quickly become unmakeable with the DCs. As others have pointed out, the Climb and Jump skills can be used where appropriate. A skill that was not mentioned and will be used extensively in the chases that I run is Balance. I have seen far too many people (professional athletes, friends and yes even me on occasion) fall while running "all out" on a flat surface. I think that the Balance skill will work perfectly for foot chases. I would even allow a player to substitute Strength when using the skill to sprint along relatively flat surfaces (if the character's Strength is higher, it would be appropriate).

Thanks folks, for the kind words.

FickleGM, good thoughts. I'm pretty sure I'll be putting together a Foot Chases supplement for this product in the near term, so keep your eyes peeled!

Barsoomcore,

I may have missed it in my first reading, but is it mentioned anywhere how long a participant can remain in a chase before tiring?

Also, do Modern highway chases have any +4 waterbarrel bonus to crash tests? :)

Damn Corey, this is one fine piece of work.

You have taken many of the things I like about doing chases in RPG's and taken away a lot of the things that I didnt... in effect, cutting to the chase of Chases in an RPG.

It. Rocks.

On Toast.

Add me to the list of satisfied buyers. Good stuff.

Also, lt us know when the creature/foot chase rules are ready. Color me hooked. ;)
