HISTORY / BACKGROUND
20 years ago, a child was born to a family of herbalist. As the child grown up, his parents teach him the skills of the family trade. But the child was not destined to follow his father’s footstep. Instead, he had shown rare brilliance and talent of the arcane that he gains the notice of the wizards in his town. Taken into the academy at no charge at all, little Derrick excelled particularly in the school of Necromancy and Enchantment. He later joined the armed services of his kingdom, becoming a battle-mage that helps his company in many battles. 
One day, his allegiances changed when his sworn king abandoned his beloved home-town for so-called ‘strategic’ purpose against a war with the marauding orc tribes.
Needless to say, Derrick is devastated when he heard of this and against order, went to his town to organize a defense against the orcs. Although Derrick is successful in repelling the orcs, the king is mad when he heard the news and demanded his head. Derrick is then forced to leave his family and friends and flee from the kingdom’s persecutors.
Now, Derrick kept his identify hidden, prefer to let himself known as “Kerrith Mageblade” when mingling with the people. So far, none had guessed his true identity. However, the persecutors sent by the king is determined to take Derrick to the king, dead or alive.

MOTIVATIONS & GOALS
He got the motivation of a common adventurer, which is kick big ass, earn big buck and get big fame.
However, he wishes to pursue the dream that one day he can return home as himself. Until that day come, he will fight for justice in the name of Kerrith Mageblade.
He also wants to dispose the king, anger by the injustice and lack of mercy shown to him and his town folks.

One note, Goldhawk- you don't have to actually keep metamagic versions of specific spells in your books, you can just prepare them that way.
