D&D 3E/3.5 D and D 3.5 optimized tank

Yeah, that makes a whole lot more sense then the way he does it. It make templates useless, I got 4 extra stat points... and am now screwed for the rest of the game. Well I will take a look at that race with the 1 LA, it looked nice.

According to my DM a +1 LA means every levels you don't get a level, ex: by level 10 you're level 5, that's way more than 1 level's health so obviously I'm missing something?

Holy cow! Check my math: so a +2LA Dragonkin (not that I'm recommending this for your build) would be 3rd level character trying to compete with a 9th level party??? Or 7th level with a 20th level party??? That sounds like it balances out well.....geesh.

Recommendation: under these rules, avoid LA like the plague.

i completely agree with vow of poverty and mineral warrior

Am I allowed to be dragonborn and have the mineral warrior template?
yes, you are.

also check the Fist of the Forest PrC from complete champion

15th level feat: steadfast determination
18th level feat: ability focus (breath weapon)

It's why I know so little about it. There was absolutely no point in using it in that state. I told him how it works today... he said they end up having the same effect which is absolutely not true. Some DM's are thick I guess.

i didn't quite get that but its wrong:P

i think he is ignoring some basic dnd terminology.
have him read this
http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/glossary&term=Glossary_dnd_effectivecharacterlevel&alpha=
effective character level This number represents a creature's overall power relative to that of a character from the Player's Handbook. A creature with an effective character level (ECL) of 10 is roughly equivalent to a 10th-level character. A creature's ECL is the sum of its Hit Dice (including class levels) and level adjustment. For instance, a splinterwaif has 2 HD and a +4 level adjustment. It is the equivalent of a 6th-level character.
so your character with the 18 class levels of your original post +1 LA from the mineral warrior template will be equivalent of a 19 level character.

Effective Character Level = Class Levels + Racial HD + Level Adjustment

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/rg/20060711a the mineral warrior template is an
Acquired Template that may be applied to any Corporeal creature other than a Construct, Elemental, or Undead.
Dragonborn are humanoids with the dragonblood subtype and any other subtypes they had before undergoing the Rite of Rebirth.
So your character type is Humanoid with the dragonblood subtype, therefore the meets the prerequisites to acquire the mineral warrior template because he is not a construct an elemental or undead.

Thanks for the helpful comments. I think the best way to achiece my build idea is to use fist of the forest and primeval, using the megaraptor as your animal, get way more bang for your buck, can be a acid breathing velociraptor.

I do have a question though. Would the burrow ability from mineral warrior still be usable in raptor form?
