(D) Concentration Spells, What Can You Do?

When a spell has a (D), what actions can you perform? Can you shoot a bow? It just specifically states that you can't cast another spell. I would think that Melee would be out, not because of the rules, but because if you get hit, you gotta make a concentration check of like DC15+damage dealt. That isn't a good thing.

Archery or using a wand/staff don't seem like they would interfer much with the concentration.

What do you think?

Maintaining concentration is a standard action that doesn't provoke AoOs [table, PHB p.128]. Thus you can't do anything else that requires a standard action or full-round action, and that includes ranged attacks. (Interestingly, you could make AoOs while maintaining a spell, unless I've missed something. This probably isn't very likely in practice, though.)

Geoff, Dissmissible is what I meant. I didn't see that word in the PHB though? I read the magic section and it spoke of concentration, etc. I must have just missed it, probably cause it was in another part!

Hong answered the question. I missed the Standard action part. Makes sense.

Thanks!
