D&D 3E/3.5 D&D 3.5 edition sorcerer: need suggestions for scrolls to pad out his spells

While it might not be in your budget for this character, Runestaff (Magic Item Compendium) is a great option for Sorcerers.

Essentially, the spells in a Runestaff get added to your spells known. That is, the staff gives you knowledge of the spell as if it were on your "Spells known" list, and lets you cast it using your own spell slots.

Runestaffs generally contain up to five spells, and you can only be attuned to one runestaff at a time, but they're cast at your level, using your caster stats. You can usually use each spell two or three times per day, though some of the example staffs allow only one.

There are sample Runestaffs in the mIC, some of which have more than 5 spells, and while the rules for making one suggest nothing less than 3rd level spells, there are samples with 1st levels spells in them.

don't forget an Area Effect spell. Burning hands isn't too shabby, but I would replace with a wand of fireball (10 charges to be used in emergencies only, or when enemies are too stupid to spread out).

And unless i'm wrong, you can use spells of a higher level than you without penalty or Caster Check.
