D&D 3.5 PC game

Horizon

First Post
I was looking around some online stores for a nice PC game and then I thought why not look for a D&D game? I tried searching the enworld shop but it's just too hard to find the pc games in there. Furthermore, I'd really like the game to be up to date (3.5 that is). I heard that "The Temple of Elemental Evil" is a good one, especially since it's turn-based (a plus in my book, as the D&D rules are just made for wargaming :P).

I was wondering, does anyone have any other suggestions? Anything D&D 3.5ish goes (I've played most of the Black Isle games anyway, BG, PS:T, IWD, NWN). So is there anything else out there? Even a non-commercial game would be fine, as long as it's fun :).

I had "Temple" at one time. When I spent a half an hour trying to find the tavern in town, I uninstalled it. Not having an easy way to find your way around a town did not add to my gameplay experience.

I later read there were lots of bugs, so I do not regret my decision.

The Knights of the Old Republic games essentially use the Star Wars d20 rules, and you can have the game pause after every combat event, so it functions as turn-based.

For Temple... apply patch1 and patch2 from Atari and Circle of Eight's patch 3 and the bugs go away.

It's a great game. I'm playing through it for the 2nd time and having a blast.

Also, Dragonshard is coming out in Sept/Oct which looks like a combination of RTS and quest based RPG.

Lots of 3.5 on the way.

Great to hear, people! I hadn't even heard of DDO yet. Know what I was thinking when reading ECS though? "This would make one hell of a MMORPG setting!" :P

Thanks for the patch advice for ToEE, I think I'll get that game and see if it's any good, I really like reading that it's turn-based.

As for Dragonshard, I'll have to look into that, RTS/RPG with D&D3.5 was kind of what I was looking for, though I'd rather have it TBS. Thanks.

I'll second ToEE. Without the patches it's unplayable. With the patches it's a ton of fun. Very true to the D&D 3.5 rules (though not all options are available of course). I've even used it to test out builds. Plus you can find it really cheap. I got it from Amazon for ten or fifteen dollars.

I have run up against a still-existing bug (even after the patches) but it can be worked around by avoiding a certain combination of weapon and target.

NWN 2 is going to take forever. :(

I'm looking forward to Dragonshard. Should be fun, in a Warcraft 3 sort of way. D&D Online looks good, but it has some caveats. For one, its set in Eberron as well, which turns off some people. Second, most of the Eberron races won't be playable right off, which is disappointing. No item creation, either. :(

Still, D&DO is probably the first MMORPG I'll sign up for.

I played the demo to ToEE when it came out and liked it a lot... Then I heard it was real buggy and decided not to buy it.

DDO looks awesome, but I'm not real big into paying to play a video game online after I already paid $50 for the game itself...
