D&D 3E/3.5 D&D 3.5 Update booklet

I just downloaded the D&D 3.5 Update booklet & have begun to convert my older stuff (using the old pencil method) into 3.5.

I've started with the Monster Manual 2. My questions. What the BLEEP???? All the skills are way out of whack. I mean I'm adding +10 or more to lots of creatures skills (often a +50 total worth of modifiers). How? Are creature's skill points that many more in 3.5?

Or did the MMII really screw a lot of stuff up?

Any Insight is appreciated,
Vraille Darkfang

Monsters didn't used to gain skill points by HD; now they do. Yes, it is sometimes that big of a difference. Note the number of feats some creatures gain, as well.

I knew the feats changed from 1 every 4 HD to 1 per three HD (as characters get feats). So I was expecting the Feat Differences. But the Skill Differences just blew me away. (I guess I didn't really pay attention to Monster Creation rules until 3.5 came out).

Does this mean all my old 3.0 Monster Books (Creature Collection II, Draconic Lore, Nightmares & Dreams, Liber Beastarius, Etc) all have the same Skill Point problem?

I was hoping to be able to easily convert them to 3.5 in my spare time. Oh well. Maybe most of them have an Update file somewhere.

Also, I realize the amount of effort it took to redo all those monsters. I thank WotC for taking the time to convert all this stuff & make it available to me for free. I thank you. That's the sort of effort to make me a loyal customer of any company/retailer.

Thanks,
Vraille Darkfang,
Runnin' out of lead scribbling in my MMII.
