In the necro's defense, whenever somebody starts a new thread, people always ask why they didn't just add on to an existing one. Which would you rather have? Yet another new thread on the same topic or a necroed thread?

Depends on the topic. When the thread is a simple question someone asked years ago (e.g. “how does spell X interact with feature Y?”, resurrecting the thread to answer it is silly. When it’s an open discussion topic (e.g. “what do you want out of the next edition?”) then it makes more sense to add to the existing thread rather than start a new one. Unless the thread is old enough that you have to dig back several pages to find it.
