Hello,

I am making this thread to ask for some feedback on an offline character builder i am making (for windows).

I put a preview version of it online today for those who want to give it a go. It is free and when at some point v1.0 comes out it will remain free (possibly open source at some point).

It comes with content from the system reference document but custom content such as races, backgrounds etc are supported, including automatic updating of content. Documentation will be added to the website in the coming weeks while i slowly polish the builder itself.

Well, I unpacked it and installed it, but when I tried to launch it from the shortcut, nothing happened. It didn't launch. I tried Run As Administrator but it made no difference. This was on Windows 10 64-bit Home edition.

I also downloaded and it does not load even from the root. Just flashes for a second and that is it, no error. Odds are you have something in your _Load Event that it is looking for that is not in the root directory. Or your MSI compiler didn't package correctly.

Oh, that's abit of a bummer, thanks for testing it though. I have tested installing it on various machines and VM's from windows 7 to 10 and they all ran. Could you check if there is a folder created in your documents folder called '5e Character Builder' and perhaps in the user appdata\local\ if there is a folder created too?

There was a folder installed in Docs with 2 Empty folders. "Custom & Portrait" As for the appdata there are also 2 folders "elements & logs." Once again, both folders are empty.

Thanks, that gives me an indication at what point the app stops working, i have uploaded a new version with a little tweak, if you would be so kind as to uninstall the current version and install the new file it would help alot.

Ironically the logger that logs errors might be blocking it due to permissions or regional settings.
